An OSRP is a critical tool because Towns with up-to-date Open Space and Recreation Plans are more likely to receive State grant monies. Without a State-approved OSRP, Foxborough would not qualify for State open space or recreation grants.
The Conservation Commission has recently updated the Town’s long expired Open Space and Recreation Plan.  This seven year Plan was approved by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affiars on July 8, 2011.

Use the site as a quick-reference guide to commonly asked questions about the Foxborough Conservation Commission, state and local laws, wildlife and other subjects.

Includes a website resource library of links to sites that we have found to be useful and informative.

Educational Brochures and Info
This page has information about environmental issues, including landscaping guides, wildlife habitat and other environmental education materials.

Foxborough’s Wildlife
We have recently added information about Foxborough's rare species, vernal pools (the Open Space and Recreation Plan section has vernal pool maps), wildlife sightings, invasive species issues (plants and bugs) and other topics that should be of interest to residents. If you have any requests or ideas about the content of this section, please send us an email

Important Alert for ATV Owners
Legislation signed in August of 2010 (Ch. 202 of the Acts of 2010) brings significant changes to Massachusetts Recreation Vehicle Laws, effective February 2011.

Free Outdoor Education Programs
In the future, the Conservation Commission will be sponsoring free outdoor programs.
Please refer to this site for information about the hikes and workshops that we are planning, including tracking wildlife in the snow and a springtime vernal pool workshop.
